A memorial object or a location focuses on honoring and remembering an influential deceased person, or a historical, tragic event. It usually exists in the form of parks, sculptures, and statues. Delhi is a place of historical significance and is the final resting place of many leaders who contributed to the shaping of our country. 

Here are some memorials in Delhi filled with knowledge and fun.

1- Shanti Vana

Shanti Vana means the garden of peace. It is the memorial of India’s first Prime Minister – Jawaharlal Nehru. Being an independence activist, he steered the future of our nation. This place is beautifully maintained and is filled with lush green trees planted by visiting dignitaries and heads of states.

2- Raj Ghat.

Raj Ghat meaning the royal platform is a memorial dedicated to the father of our nation – Mahatma Gandhi. He employed non-violent practices for the successful campaigns of India’s independence from the British. 

Gandhi Ji cremation spot is marked by black marble, and an eternal flame burns at one end. A Gandhi memorial museum is also found here, which is all about the life of Gandhi. 

3- A.P.J Abdul Kalam Memorial.

Known as the Missile man of India, A.P.J Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist and a politician. Along with his major scientific contributions, he also encouraged the education of youth as it is they who will lead to the nation’s development.

At his memorial, one can witness his contributions and the books written by him. Situated at Dilli Haat, INA, you can even witness his possessions and artifacts. 

4- Veer Bhumi.

Veer Bhumi honors the youngest prime minister of India- Rajiv Gandhi. He was a gem leader for our country, and his spot of last rites is enhanced with a rock carved lotus and 46 replicas that portray his life. The memorials of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, and Lal Bahadur Shastri are close to each other.

5- All India War Memorial.

India Gate, also known as All India War Memorial, is made up of sandstone and is a memorial to martyrs of World War (1914-21). The Amar Jawan Jyoti serves as a tribute to the Indian Martyrs, who lost their lives defending the nation. This place generates a feeling of patriotism. It is also one of the best tourist spots with its park and boating activities.
