A Stepwise Guide to our process:

As the departed person's family needs professional support at each step, the team segregates itself into sub-teams to carry out all the tasks simultaneously.

1. Informing the Embassy and attaining a Legal permit -

The team begins the procedure by informing the concerned authorities of both countries about the demise of a citizen of Mexico in Japan. After receiving a permit from the concerned local and higher authorities of Japan, the team collects the corpse from the hospital or the place of death.

2. Shifting the body to mortuary -

The primary inspection of the deceased body is performed by the senior doctors in a certified medical facility in Japan. Once it is verified that there is no case of sudden or unnatural death, the body is then shifted to the mortuary for safe residence up until the documentation is complete.

3. Completing the Legal Paperwork -

Collecting valid papers from the concerned authorities of Japan is the most crucial task in the legal transportation of the dead body internationally. The process takes nearly 7 to 10 working days, but with our trained, experienced and professional team members, Last Journey makes sure that the overall process is effortless.

Please find a list of documents required for lawfully receiving the remains of a deceased:

  • Death Certificate in original as well as duplicate (copy).
  • Passport and other personal documents of the deceased person.
  • Permit for traveling from the airport authority of Japan.
  • Embalming certificate signed by professional & certified doctors.
  • A letter from the health department stating the noncontagious state of the dead body.
  • Certificate for the coffin box to keep the embalmed remains with perfect sealing.
  • Details of flight tickets and air cargo tickets with timing, names and other essential information.
  • No objection certificate or NOC
  • Local area police permit
  • Post-mortem report if death occurred due to any unnatural cause.
  • Any proof of the deceased's staying in Japan like hotel bills, house rent, etc.
  • IDs of the accompanying family members who are participating in the Dead body transportation.

All these documents must be available in original and copy. The Last Journey team arranges 8-10 copies of each essential document and the copies of each document are submitted to the different departments related to the Repatriation procedure.

 4. Embalming Services for the human remains -

The first step in this process is obtaining consent from the family members for the Embalming procedure. Once the family has consented to this, the team moves the human remains to a certified embalming center in Japan. With the help of a local funeral direction team.

  • The move is carried out in a well-equipped ambulance van.
  • The remains are kept safe in a cool environment, a freezing box or a cooling cabinet.
  • The embalming procedure includes the expulsion of body fluid from the body. A mixture of chemicals and water in order to preserve the body for long hours is then injected before coating the entire body with natron to forestall decomposition.
  • The remains are then placed and secured in a sealed coffin box.

5. Booking air cargo tickets & flight tickets through online sources -

Two-way air cargo services and flight tickets are booked after completing the documentation process.

As per the convenience and availability of the family members, the team finalizes a time slot and books air travel for the body and accompanying family members.

Note -

1) The transportation of the dead body to the airport through ambulance service, informing the airport authority and shipping the human remains is taken care of by the team at Last Journey.

2) If no family member is travelling with the cargo, our team members accompany its last journey.
