Our Process:
1. Attaining a Legal permit -
The process starts with notifying authorities in both Cambodia and Thailand about the death of a Cambodian citizen in Thailand. Following approval from local and higher authorities in Thailand, the team retrieves the body from either the hospital or the location where the death occurred.
2. Transportation to mortuary -
Senior doctors at an accredited medical facility in Thailand conduct the initial examination of the deceased body. Once they confirm that the death was not sudden or unnatural, the body is transferred to the mortuary for safekeeping until all necessary documentation is finalized..
3. Legal Paperwork -
Gathering necessary documentation from Thailand authorities is essential for legally transporting the deceased internationally. The Last Journey team ensures a smooth process with our skilled and experienced team members.
List of documents required:
- Original and duplicate Death Certificates.
- Passport and other personal documents of the deceased.
- Travel permit from Thailand airport authorities.
- Embalming certificate endorsed by certified professionals.
- Health department letter confirming the non-contagious nature of the body.
- Coffin box certification for securely housing the embalmed remains.
- Flight and air cargo tickets detailing timing and essential information.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- Local area police permit.
- Post-mortem report if death was due to unnatural causes.
- Proof of the deceased's residence in Thailand, such as hotel bills or rental agreements.
- IDs of accompanying family members involved in the transportation of the deceased.
All these documents must be available in original and copy. The Last Journey team prepares 8-10 copies of each necessary document, submitting them to various departments involved in the Repatriation procedure.
4. Embalming Services -
The initial step involves obtaining consent from family members for the embalming process. Once consent is given, the team transports the deceased to a certified embalming center in Thailand, assisted by a local funeral team. This transfer is conducted in a well-equipped ambulance.
At the embalming center, the remains are stored in a cool environment, such as a freezing box or cooling cabinet. The embalming process begins with draining bodily fluids, followed by injecting a mixture of chemicals and water to preserve the body for an extended period. Natron is applied to the entire body to prevent decomposition. Finally, the preserved remains are placed securely in a sealed coffin box.
5. Air Travel -
After completing the documentation process, the team arranges round-trip air cargo services and books flight tickets. Based on the convenience and availability of the family members, the team selects a suitable time slot and schedules air travel for both the body and accompanying family members.
Note:
- Last Journey handles the transportation of the deceased to the airport via ambulance service, notifies the airport authority, and arranges for shipping the remains.
- In cases where no family member accompanies the cargo, our team members accompany the body on its final journey.
